Poland renewable energy compensations exceed 100 million PLN
Renewable energy producers in Poland are receiving record compensations due to increasing energy surpluses. Total payouts have exceeded 100 million PLN, with Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) paying 57.9 million PLN in the first seven months of the year alone. These payments are necessary when the grid operator must limit the injection of energy from wind and solar sources to maintain system stability, particularly when production exceeds current demand.
Photovoltaics account for approximately 70 percent of the energy production that operators are unable to accept into the grid. These compensation costs are ultimately passed on to energy consumers as part of the overall system operating costs.
For agricultural and residential users considering photovoltaic investments, profitability depends on electricity tariffs and consumption profiles. While energy prices vary by tariff type, distribution and system fees are rising, with distribution tariffs for 2026 expected to increase by an average of 9.36 percent compared to 2025.
