Poland reports improved road safety statistics for summer 2026

Data from the summer 2026 holiday season in Poland indicates a general improvement in road safety compared to the previous year. Between January and July 31, 2026, there were 2,397 accidents resulting in 158 deaths and 2,885 injuries, down from 2,500 accidents and 188 deaths in the same period in 2025.

In the Silesia region, motorcycle-related accidents have also seen a decrease. Since the beginning of the year, 111 accidents involving motorcyclists have occurred, resulting in 5 fatalities, which is 22 fewer accidents and 7 fewer deaths than in the corresponding period of 2025.

Despite these improvements, police report significant ongoing risks. Authorities identified 10,915 drivers operating under the influence of alcohol during the summer period. Additionally, electric scooter accidents are on an upward trend, with 828 accidents involving scooters resulting in 11 deaths and 745 injuries between January and July 2026. Law enforcement continues to monitor speed violations and bus safety for transporting children.
