Multiple drownings claim lives of teens and children in Polish reservoirs

A series of fatal incidents have occurred at Polish water bodies over the past weeks. In Zwoleniu, an 8‑year‑old boy drowned while under the supervision of his father, who was found to have a blood‑alcohol level above half a promile. An 18‑year‑old man died while attempting to swim across Jeziorem Skrzyneckim, collapsing and disappearing beneath the water. Police later retrieved his body. Additionally, a body believed to be that of a missing 19‑year‑old was recovered from Zalew Mietkowski following a severe weather incident that left two men without life‑jackets.

Authorities in all cases have launched investigations, with prosecutors ordering autopsies to determine exact causes. Police have repeatedly warned the public about the dangers of swimming in prohibited areas, the risks of alcohol consumption near water, and the need for proper supervision of children. Local rescue services emphasized the importance of safety measures such as life‑jackets, awareness of sudden depth changes, and avoiding sudden immersion in cold water.
