Poland restores historic park and solidarity monument with state funding

In Lubin, the Siewca Park is undergoing a major revitalisation funded by the Government Heritage Restoration Programme. The works, carried out by Gardens Grzegorz Sobolewski, include the conservation of the historic Marcin Rożek bronze Siewca monument, reconstruction of a historic fountain, renewal of pathways, a playground, a sports field surface, new parking, green planting, energy‑efficient lighting and monitoring. The total investment is about 1.77 million PLN, of which roughly 1.27 million PLN comes from the state programme, and the park is expected to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile in Kraków’s Nowa Huta district, the Solidarity monument “Bądź wierny, idź” on the Builders’ Square has completed its conservation phase. The project, costing 297.5 thousand PLN, was largely financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s “Places of Memory” fund. The restoration restored the monument’s original appearance, stabilised cracks, filled losses and applied specialist conservation materials, preserving the site as a place of remembrance.

Both projects illustrate Poland’s ongoing effort to preserve cultural heritage sites through targeted state funding.
