Poland heritage funding for historic sites
Entities: Solidarity monument “Bądź wierny, idź” (Nowa Huta) · Smak bezpiecznej wsi programme · Rembieliński Palace · Bogdan Dyjuk · Krakow
Overview
In late July 2026 the Podlaskie region launched the pilot “Smak bezpiecznej wsi”, allocating about 100 k zł to women’s groups and NGOs for workshops on traditional food preservation, emergency stockpiling and basic first‑aid, and to purchase equipment such as pasteurisation pots and drying racks. At the same time the “Mazowsze dla zabytków” programme earmarked more than 1 m zł for municipalities in Ciechanów, Pułtusk, Mława and Płońsk counties, funding restoration of eleven historic monuments, including two parish churches receiving 100 k zł each for polychrome wall and ceiling paintings. In Krośniewice, the first phase of conservation work on the historic Rembieliński Palace began, focusing on façade, cornices and stucco, while the Ministry of National Defence provided 100 k zł to refurbish the park monument to Prince Józef Poniatowski.
Subsequent allocations expanded the effort. The Wielkopolskie Marshal’s Office announced grants of almost 250 k zł for eight parish churches and a total of 2.5 m zł to preserve 78 heritage monuments across the province. In Strzelce Opolskie County, over 1 m zł was assigned to conserve local historic assets, and the Ministry of Culture awarded more than 14.3 m zł to entities in Lesser Poland, including 252 k zł for fire‑safety upgrades at the Cistercian Abbey in Szczyrzyce. State‑funded projects in Lubin revitalised the historic Siewca Park with a 1.77 m zł investment (1.27 m zł from the Government Heritage Restoration Programme), and in Kraków’s Nowa Huta district the Solidarity monument “Bądź wierny, idź” was restored with 297.5 k zł from the “Places of Memory” fund. These actions illustrate the continued, nationwide expansion of Poland’s heritage‑preservation financing.
