Series of road incidents and violations hit Poland and Hungary
On Sunday, three separate collisions occurred in the Łowicz county of Poland. A driver ignored a STOP sign in Skowroda Północna, another lost control of a Renault in Jamna, and a Ukrainian driver rear‑ended a Mercedes Sprinter on the A2 near Kalenice. No injuries were reported and the drivers received traffic fines.
In Niwiska, Poland, a truck’s trailer tipped onto soft ground, spilling its load of timber onto the road and sidewalk. Firefighters cleared the debris and the driver was fined for unsafe maneuvering; no one was hurt.
In Hungary, a driver in Karanckeszi was fined 100,000 for exceeding the 50 km/h limit by just 1 km/h during a speed‑control operation, illustrating the country's strict enforcement of speed limits.
Separately, a severe pedestrian accident occurred in Lublin, Poland, when a Volkswagen struck a passer‑by on a marked crossing. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police detained a 39‑year‑old Ukrainian driver with a blood‑alcohol level above 2 ‰ as part of the investigation.
