Poland road infrastructure features 14-lane section and longest tunnel

Poland's road infrastructure features significant developments, including the S2 expressway near Warsaw. At the Opacz junction, the S2 expands to a total of 14 lanes in both directions, consisting of four traffic lanes, two connector lanes, and one emergency lane per side.

Additionally, the S2 contains the longest road tunnel in Poland, located under the Ursynów district of Warsaw. Opened in December 2021 as part of the Warsaw Southern Bypass, the tunnel spans 2,335 meters and is equipped with 143 monitoring cameras and section speed control. Plans are underway for a new, even longer tunnel under the Odra River as part of the Western Szczecin Bypass, which is expected to reach approximately 5 km in length by 2030.

Regarding travel preferences, car rentals are noted as a flexible alternative to public transport, offering increased privacy, independence, and the ability to manage schedules without relying on train or bus timetables.
