Poland expands central e‑registration for specialist appointments

Poland’s central electronic registration system (e‑rejestracja) is being expanded to cover a larger share of specialist care. The Ministry of Health’s timetable aims for the system to include 40 specialist categories by the end of 2027, accelerating the rollout from a four‑year plan to two years.

From 1 August 2026, the National Health Fund (NFZ) launched the next phase, adding eight new specialties – angiology or vascular surgery, infectious diseases, endocrinology, hepatology, immunology, nephrology, neonatology and pulmonology – to the online booking platform accessed via the Internetowe Konto Pacjenta and the mojeIKP app. The extension applies to first‑time visits, requires a referral from primary care, and retains traditional phone or in‑person scheduling for follow‑up appointments. The goal is to provide a single nationwide database of available slots, reduce patient‑initiated phone calls to clinics, and shorten waiting times for specialist care.
