Poland rolls out major programs to boost capital markets and scale funding
Poland's financial ecosystem is receiving two complementary initiatives aimed at expanding the depth of capital markets and increasing funding for growth‑stage companies. The Innovate Poland programme, overseen by PFR Ventures, seeks to create larger private equity, private debt and venture‑capital funds, targeting a total fund size of up to €1 billion. It will mobilise institutional investors, corporate venture arms and new categories of private capital to build a pipeline from early‑stage startup financing to the creation of “Polish champions”.
At the same time, Warsaw Stock Exchange President Tomasz Bardziłowski highlighted the upcoming Personal Investment Accounts (OKI), which will allow individuals to invest up to 100 000 PLN tax‑free. The scheme is designed to redirect a portion of the roughly 4 trillion zł of household savings into the stock market, raising annual market capitalisation from the current 27 % of GDP toward a longer‑term target of about 50 %.
Both measures address the chronic shortage of large‑scale financing in Poland, aim to attract private and corporate capital, and are intended to support the scaling of innovative firms and improve the share of market‑based financing in the economy.
