Poland rolls out two student aid programmes for school‑age children
The International Education Foundation announced the 26th edition of the "zDolny Śląsk" scholarship programme for the 2026/27 school year. It targets talented pupils in the Lower Silesian region, offering grants of 3,500 zł for younger primary pupils, 4,000 zł for older primary and first‑year secondary students, and 4,500 zł for other secondary levels. Around 50 scholarships and additional bridge grants will be awarded, with applications submitted online by 31 July 2026.
Separately, the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is administering the "Dobry start" scheme, a one‑time 300 zł contribution for school‑supply costs. The benefit is available to all families with school‑age children regardless of income, and applications are accepted electronically from 1 July to 30 November each year. Payments are issued shortly after processing, with a September deadline for July‑August applications and a two‑month window for later submissions.
