Overview
ZUS continues to urge families to submit electronic applications for the 800 Plus child benefit before the 30 June 2026 deadline. By early October 2026, the scale of the Dobry Start programme has grown, with over 3.1 million applications submitted to ZUS. This covers approximately 4.6 million children, with total disbursements reaching 1.29 billion zł. In the Mazowieckie Voivodeship alone, over 196.5 million zł has been paid out for more than 695,000 children. Additionally, local efforts to support students in difficult material situations continue, such as in the Budzów municipality, where targeted subsidies have been granted to equalize educational opportunities.
Despite the program's scale, the 300 zł benefit is increasingly viewed as insufficient due to inflation, as the amount has not been indexed since 2018. While some political figures have proposed increasing the benefit to 800 zł, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has confirmed there are currently no active works to increase the amount or replace the program with a different benefit.
Research indicates that 40 percent of parents plan to spend more than they did last year, with average costs for one child estimated at approximately 623 zł. Increased shopping activity has prompted police to issue warnings regarding cybercrime and fake online stores. Furthermore, health officials have noted concerns regarding student backpack weights, observing that some students still carry excessive loads.
