Poland secures 120 billion PLN in defense orders via SAFE program

The Polish government has reported significant progress in the SAFE program, aimed at modernizing the nation's armed forces and boosting the domestic economy. According to Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, the Armament Agency has concluded 39 contracts and 12 annexes totaling 120 billion PLN as of October 20, with Polish industry participating at a rate of 99.5 percent.

Additionally, the Cyber Defense Forces have entered 16 contracts valued at 3.4 billion PLN, all intended for domestic companies. The program is expected to create up to 25,000 new jobs by 2035, with approximately 12,000 companies currently involved in the supply chain.

Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that the Polish government plans to request approximately 6 billion EUR from the European Union's SAFE program by the end of October. This would bring Poland's total expected funding from the EU instrument to over 43.7 billion EUR, with potential transfers arriving as early as 2027. The program is also facilitating international cooperation, with countries such as Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Cyprus, and Greece purchasing Polish technologies and equipment.
