Poland sees rising foreign tourism and international interest

Poland is experiencing a significant surge in tourism and international interest. In the first half of 2026, foreign tourists accounted for over 9.3 million overnight stays, an 8% increase year-on-year. While foreign stays represent a relatively low share of total overnight stays in Poland compared to the EU average, the growth rate is outpacing domestic tourism.

Specific trends show high demand from Czech and Chinese travelers, while Swedish bookings to Gdańsk have increased by 130%. The city has become a major destination due to its historical sites and proximity to the Baltic Sea. Additionally, there is a growing trend of foreigners choosing to relocate to Poland permanently, driven by perceived safety and economic stability.

Conversely, Polish citizens are increasingly traveling abroad. The number of Polish tourists visiting Spain has nearly doubled in three years, reaching over three million in 2025, fueled by rising household income and purchasing power in Poland.
