Poland lowers fuel price caps to 6.00 zł for gasoline as VAT cut and inspections tighten

The Polish government announced new maximum fuel prices effective 19 June 2026: gasoline 95 will not exceed 6.00 zł per litre, gasoline 98 6.66 zł and diesel 6.20 zł. The caps follow a series of daily adjustments that lowered the limits from the previous day (6.06 zł, 6.72 zł and 6.36 zł respectively) and from the 18 June limits of 6.06 zł, 6.72 zł and 6.36 zł.

The reductions are part of the “Ceny Paliwa Niżej” programme, which also includes a temporary VAT cut and the phase‑out of an earlier fuel‑tax rebate after a US‑Iran agreement helped stabilise global oil markets. Ministers said the changes aim to protect consumers and keep fuel costs predictable for the economy.

Separately, the National Revenue Administration (KAS) inspected 10,471 fuel stations across Poland, finding irregularities at 634 locations. No fines have yet been issued; the authority indicates that penalties may be imposed after a 14‑day procedural period.

Analysts note that the price cuts give drivers a short‑term saving of roughly 30–35 zł per full tank, though they warn that volatility in international oil prices could reverse the trend. A spokesperson for the National Council for Energy Stability said, “Prices are reacting to both international benchmarks and local supply dynamics.”
