Poland sets weekend fuel price caps at 5.94 PLN per litre

The Polish government announced new maximum retail prices for fuel for the weekend of 20‑22 June. Under the "Ceny Paliwa Niżej" (CPN) programme, the cap for unleaded gasoline is 5.94 PLN per litre and for diesel 6.12 PLN per litre. Prices are calculated daily from wholesale market data, VAT (reduced to 8 %), a fixed fuel tax and a 0.30 PLN per litre margin. Stations that sell above the caps can be fined up to 1 million PLN.

On Saturday, Orlen raised wholesale prices for gasoline (up 42‑74 PLN per cubic metre) while diesel wholesale fell slightly. Despite the change, the updated maximum retail caps remained lower than the previous day’s limits. Officials said the CPN programme is being gradually phased out as the VAT reduction remains in force until 30 June, while earlier excise‑tax cuts ended on 16 June. The fuel market continues to react to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and to fluctuations in global oil prices.
