Poland social benefits: caregiver and disability support

In Poland, several state-funded financial supports are available for caregivers and individuals with disabilities. For those who must temporarily care for a sick parent, a caregiver allowance is available, providing 80 percent of the dimension base for up to 14 days per year. To qualify, the individual must be covered by sickness insurance and provide an electronic medical certificate (e-ZLA) along with form Z-15B via the eZUS platform. This benefit is only applicable if no other person in the household can provide the necessary care.

For long-term needs, the support benefit for persons with disabilities may range from 792 PLN to 4,352.68 PLN per month in 2026, depending on the level of support required. Additionally, seniors over the age of 75 receiving a pension or disability pension are eligible for a nursing allowance, which is set to reach 366.68 PLN per month starting in March 2026.
