Poland tightens rules on municipal waste collection points, sparking frustration

New regulations for Poland's municipal waste collection points (PSZOK) now require residents to personally deliver used clothing and other waste, often involving long trips and cumbersome loads. The changes also mandate separate weighing of each waste type, limit vehicle access to private cars, and in some municipalities require QR‑coded personal IDs and proof of identity.

These measures have led to longer queues, increased inconvenience for citizens who recycle responsibly, and concerns that overly strict rules may encourage illegal dumping in forests despite the intended aim of curbing illegal waste transport.
