Poland to host free spirometry testing day on September 30
On September 30, 2026, Polish Spirometry Day will take place across 10 cities in Poland as part of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign. The initiative offers free, non-invasive, and painless spirometry tests without the need for prior registration or a doctor's referral.
Testing will be available from 8:00 or 8:30 to 16:00 at the National Health Fund (NFZ) headquarters in Warsaw and its provincial branches in Opole, Wrocław, Katowice, Rzeszów, Kraków, Lublin, Szczecin, Gdańsk, and Bydgoszcz. The campaign is coordinated by the Polish Federation of Associations of Patients with Asthma, Allergy and COPD.
Health experts are specifically encouraging individuals over the age of 40, tobacco users, and those living in polluted areas to participate, particularly if they experience shortness of breath or a chronic cough lasting more than eight weeks. The goal is to detect Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma, conditions that affect millions in Poland, many of whom remain undiagnosed. If a test indicates airway obstruction, participants will receive a letter to present to their primary care physician for further diagnostic follow-up.
