Poland to implement real-time hospital resource monitoring system

The Polish Ministry of Health has introduced a draft to establish the Provider Potential Registry (EPS), a digital system designed to monitor national healthcare infrastructure in real time. The system will collect data on hospital beds, medical personnel, technical equipment, oxygen supplies, and blood stocks. Unlike the previous SEZOZ system, which was primarily statistical, the EPS aims to serve as a live digital map of healthcare resources.

A key objective of the EPS is to support crisis management, disaster response, and national defense by integrating data with the State Medical Rescue Command Support System (SWD PRM). This integration will allow emergency dispatchers to verify not only bed availability but also the specific equipment necessary for critical patients, such as those requiring mechanical ventilation or urgent imaging.

Due to technical requirements, the implementation timeline has been adjusted. The central database is now projected to become operational in October 2027, rather than January 2027. The new regulations also mandate that medical equipment data be provided directly by service providers to ensure a comprehensive registry that includes entities not under contract with the National Health Fund (NFZ).
