Poland to install record 48 km speed camera system on A2 motorway

Poland is implementing significant changes to its average speed camera (OPP) network. A new, record-breaking system will be installed on the A2 motorway between Warsaw and Łódź to monitor a 48 km stretch. This installation coincides with the expansion of the motorway, during which the speed limit will be reduced from 140 km/h to 70 km/h due to heavy traffic and construction works. The new A2 monitoring system is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

As part of this reallocation, three existing speed camera installations in Małopolska and Silesia—located in Tarnów, between Wilcza and Nieborowice, and in Tarnowskie Góry—will be dismantled. These devices are slated to be relocated to new locations, including the S7 expressway near the Gdańsk bypass.
