Poland to launch 1 billion PLN energy storage subsidy program

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) is developing a new program, ‘Home Energy Storage Part II’, intended to succeed the ‘My Electricity’ initiative. With a budget of 1 billion PLN, the program aims to increase energy self-consumption and reduce pressure on the power grid during peak demand.

Prosumers may receive non-repayable grants of up to 30 percent of eligible investment costs. Those using the net-billing system can receive up to 16,000 PLN, while those in the net-metering system are eligible for up to 8,000 PLN. Additional incentives include up to 1,000 PLN for heat storage and up to 2,000 PLN for purchasing or replacing an inverter with a hybrid model.

To prevent price inflation of equipment, NFOŚiGW will implement cost limits: 800 PLN per 1 kWh of capacity and a maximum investment cost of 3,000 PLN per 1 kWh. Energy storage systems can also provide backup power during grid outages, provided they include a compatible inverter and a system capable of operating in island mode to create a local circuit.
