Poland to launch ‘green list’ for soldier equipment in October

The Polish Ministry of National Defence will launch a ‘green list’ in October, allowing soldiers to personally select and purchase additional equipment. This initiative aims to provide personnel with access to items outside of standard-issue gear, such as gloves, ballistic glasses, and small observation drones. Military teams will be responsible for determining which products meet the necessary requirements for the list.

This move is part of ‘Operation Szpej,’ which began in early 2024 to modernize individual soldier equipment and weaponry, including uniforms, footwear, weapons, and communication tools. The goal is to meet at least 90 percent of individual equipment needs by the end of 2026. Significant investments are being made, including the procurement of over 350,000 composite helmets and approximately 70,000 bulletproof vests.
