Poland to mandate electronic business registration from November 2026

Starting November 1, 2026, the process for establishing a sole proprietorship in Poland will transition to a mandatory electronic format. According to the Ministry of Development and Technology, paper applications for registration in the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG) will no longer be accepted.

Entrepreneurs will be able to register their businesses through several digital channels, including the Biznes.gov.pl portal, the mObywatel mobile application, or via electronic banking services. This move represents the first stage of a broader digitalization effort, with the goal of eliminating remaining paper forms by 2028.

The shift follows a significant trend in digital adoption; while only 9% of business registrations were conducted online a decade ago, that figure has risen to approximately 74%.
