Poland to mandate first aid kits in new cars from 2027
The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing a regulation to make first aid kits a mandatory component of passenger vehicle equipment. This change marks an end to over two decades of voluntary compliance.
To mitigate criticism and avoid imposing costs on owners of existing vehicles, the government has narrowed the scope of the mandate. The requirement will only apply to new cars registered for the first time after March 31, 2027. Vehicles already on the road or used cars changing hands after this date will not be required to carry a kit.
While the regulation does not establish a strict list of required medical contents, officials recommend kits that meet the European DIN 13164 standard. The change is estimated to affect approximately 650,000 vehicles annually, with an expected total yearly cost to drivers of nearly 49 million PLN.
