Poland vehicle first aid kit mandate
Overview
The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure is developing regulations to make first aid kits a mandatory component of passenger vehicle equipment. This move aims to end more than twenty years of voluntary compliance.
The mandate is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027, and will specifically apply to new passenger cars registered for the first time after March 31, 2027. To avoid imposing costs on existing vehicle owners, the requirement will not apply retroactively to cars already on the road or used vehicles.
While the regulation does not mandate a strict list of contents, officials recommend kits that meet the European DIN 13164 standard. Such kits typically include essential items like sterile gauze compresses, individual dressings, triangular bandages, and adhesive tape. The change is estimated to affect approximately 650,000 vehicles annually, with an expected yearly cost to drivers of nearly 49 million PLN.
