Poland to offer 1.4 billion PLN for defense and dual-use technologies

The Polish Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy plans to announce funding competitions for defense and dual-use technologies by 2026. The total value of these projects is expected to exceed 1.4 billion PLN under the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) program.

This initiative follows a decision by the Council of Ministers to include defense technologies as a fourth funding area within the Critical Technologies Support Fund (STEP), alongside digital technologies, deep tech, clean technologies, and biotechnology. The ministry is currently awaiting official approval from the European Commission regarding these program modifications.

Calls for applications under the STEP fund are tentatively scheduled for November of this year. The ministry aims to provide support in the form of grants, with potential funding levels reaching up to 50 percent, to encourage dialogue with entrepreneurs and meet industrial production needs in the security sector.
