Poland to Replace RTV Subscription with Flat Audiovisual Tax in 2027
From 1 January 2027 Poland will end the current RTV subscription system and introduce a new flat audiovisual tax of about 8–9 zloty per month. The fee will be collected automatically by the tax office during income‑tax filing and will no longer depend on the number or type of radio or television receivers owned. Exemptions will remain for seniors, war veterans and low‑income pensioners.
The reform also ends the registration of devices and postal inspections that enforce the old subscription. Under the existing regime, penalties for non‑payment can reach up to 1,425 zloty for a car radio owned for five years, with fines calculated as 30 times the base fee plus arrears. The new system aims to simplify collection while maintaining revenue for public broadcasters.
