Poland advances defense with long-range drones and 155mm ammunition production

Poland is advancing its domestic defense capabilities through the development of advanced artillery ammunition and long-range unmanned systems. The Polish military is set to begin testing 'Deep Precision Strike' solutions, which utilize low-cost unmanned weapon systems designed to strike targets at distances of approximately 1,000 kilometers. One potential system under evaluation is the Fly Focus Striker, a serial-produced unmanned system designed for high-depth operational reach.

Simultaneously, Poland is working to secure its artillery supply chain by developing domestic production of 155mm caliber ammunition. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and ensure sufficient stocks for modern howitzers, such as the Krab and K9. Facilities like the Dezamet Metal Works in Nowa Dęba are involved in manufacturing critical components, including fuses and gas generators. The goal is to establish a robust national production chain capable of meeting the high consumption rates seen in modern conflicts, with commercialization of certain domestic projects expected as early as 2027.
