Poland unveils Opole folk craft festival and moves historic wooden church to Podlaskie museum

The Museum of Opole Village will host the inaugural Święto Wzoru Opolskiego (Opole Pattern Festival) on 9 August 2026. The event aims to promote regional folk crafts such as Opole porcelain, Tułowice ceramics, wickerwork, embroidery and pottery through workshops, a “Master‑Apprentice” zone, a craft market and a folk‑band concert. Organisers have opened a call for exhibitors and will present honorary museum awards and a new publication on Opole folk art.

Separately, the Podlaskie Museum of Folk Culture in Wasilków near Białystok plans to relocate an 18th‑century wooden church from Seroczyn to its open‑air site. More than 1.2 million zł have been allocated for dismantling, transport and reconstruction, with a tender open until 22 July. The project, expected to finish by the end of the year, will make the church the first religious structure in the museum’s skansen.

Both initiatives reflect Poland’s effort to preserve and showcase its cultural heritage through public events and museum projects.
