ZUS announces new pension limits and 14th pension payments
Poland's Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is implementing several updates regarding pension benefits and income limits. Starting September 1, 2026, new monthly income thresholds will apply to early retirees and pensioners. The threshold that does not trigger a reduction in benefits is set at 6,463.20 PLN gross, while exceeding 12,003.10 PLN gross may result in the suspension of benefits.
Additionally, ZUS will begin distributing the 14th pension in September 2026. The full amount is 1,978.49 PLN gross, available to those with pensions or disability benefits not exceeding 2,900 PLN gross. For higher amounts, a 'złotówka za złotówkę' reduction applies, and those with benefits exceeding 4,828.49 PLN gross will not receive the supplement. Payments will be distributed in installments on September 1, 6, 10, 15, 20, and 25.
Other developments include a government project to automatically cancel approximately 315 million PLN in old ZUS debts incurred before 1999, and discussions regarding the introduction of seniority-based pensions. The Lewica party has proposed a bill to equalize retirement ages for men and women through such a system.
