Poland implements pension payouts and updates social security limits
Poland is implementing several changes to its social security and pension systems. In September, ZUS and KRUS will begin distributing the 14th pension. The full amount is 1,978.49 PLN gross, though payments are subject to a reduction mechanism for those with benefits exceeding 2,900 PLN. Payments will be distributed in multiple installments throughout the month.
New income limits for working retirees and pensioners will take effect on September 1, 2026. The safe earning threshold is set at 6,463.20 PLN gross, while exceeding 12,003.10 PLN gross may result in the suspension of benefits. These limits are adjusted quarterly based on average national wages.
Looking toward 2027, government budget projections indicate significant shifts. The average national wage is expected to exceed 10,000 PLN, which will increase social security contributions for entrepreneurs. Additionally, pension indexation for 2027 is projected to rise to 3.96 percent due to updated inflation forecasts. The widow's pension is also set for an increase, with the second benefit portion rising from 15 percent to 25 percent, though a total benefit cap will remain in place.
