US warns Poland of possible Russian provocation testing NATO

The United States has warned Poland that Russia may stage a limited provocation in the coming months to test NATO’s resolve. Intelligence shared with Warsaw, reported by Polish outlet Onet, describes possible scenarios such as missile or drone strikes on critical infrastructure, cyber attacks, simulated air strikes, or a small ground incursion from Kaliningrad or Belarus presented as an accidental border breach. U.S. officials say the aim would be to pressure NATO allies to curtail military aid to Ukraine and to portray NATO as unwilling to defend a member state.

Polish presidents and ministers have acknowledged the warnings and are preparing defensive measures, while NATO has increased readiness on its eastern flank.
