Poland warns Russia's new intervention law could spur drone attacks
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned that mounting economic and military pressure on Russia could make President Vladimir Putin even more dangerous, stressing that the threat from Moscow is not disappearing.
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said Russia has passed a law allowing military interventions abroad to protect the rights of Russian citizens. He cited recent interceptions of three Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea and the downing of three Russian drones on Romanian territory, and warned that the law could lead to a progressive escalation of Russian provocations.
Kosiniak‑Kamysz emphasized that Poland does not expect a conventional large‑scale attack, such as tank columns moving toward Warsaw. However, he cautioned that Russia could use captured Ukrainian drones for false‑flag attacks against NATO's eastern flank, including the Baltic states, Finland, Romania and Poland, which would trigger NATO Article 4 or 5 provisions.
