Poland watchdog probes Rapiomed e‑prescription service
The Polish Competition and Consumer Protection Office (UOKiK) has opened proceedings against Rapiomed Group, an operator of popular online e‑prescription and sick‑note services. The office alleges that the company advertised telephone consultations with physicians that in practice often consisted only of reviewing a filled medical form, with no actual conversation. Patients reported not receiving promised doctor contact, difficulty obtaining refunds, and being offered discount coupons instead. If the accusations are confirmed, UOKiK may order changes to the practices and impose a fine of up to 10% of annual turnover.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health pointed out significant errors in the newly launched Central e‑Registration system, which allowed patients to book same‑day cardiology appointments that were unavailable because doctors were on leave or the clinic’s schedule was not reflected in the system. The ministry attributes the problem to a lack of data synchronization between clinic and central databases and emphasizes the need to refine digital health tools rather than halt digitisation.
