Poland opens final S6 stretch and completes eastern A2, cutting travel time

On 26 June 2026 Poland opened the last 40‑km segment of the S6 expressway, known as the Trasa Kaszubska, linking Szczecin with the Tricity region. The new section between Słupsk and Leśniewo reduces the Gdańsk‑Szczecin journey by about 1½ hours, from roughly five to three and a half hours, and is expected to boost tourism in coastal towns such as Łeba.

The same day the remaining sections of the A2 motorway on the country’s eastern flank were placed into service, creating a continuous route from the western border to Biała Podlaska. The 30 km addition shortens travel from Biała Podlaska to the outskirts of Warsaw to just over one hour, compared with more than three hours on the former national road. The A2 project, spanning nearly 630 km in total, cost about 7.5 billion zł, with EU funding exceeding 3.8 billion zł.
