Poland's A4 Highway Faces Crash Delays Near Wrocław and Low Traffic Near Rzeszów

A three‑vehicle collision occurred around 19:00 on the A4 motorway between Pietrzykowice and Wrocław South, blocking the left lane and restricting traffic to a single lane. Rescue teams and police worked at the scene, and the blockage was expected to cause delays lasting until about 21:00, with drivers advised to use alternative routes.

Traffic measurements by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) show that the eastern stretch of the A4 near Rzeszów carries only about 2,400 vehicles per day—roughly 100 vehicles per hour—far fewer than the busiest Polish highways, which see over 100,000 vehicles daily. The low utilization is attributed to its role as a trans‑border freight corridor, reduced usage of the Korczowa crossing, and the impact of the ongoing war affecting traffic toward Belarus.
