Poland's Aviation Sector Shows Growth in Cargo and Passenger Services

A 2025 report on Polish air cargo shows that 214,000 tonnes were transported through the country’s airports, a 7 % rise from 2024 and 73 % higher than in 2019. Poland ranked 12th in the EU with a 1.3 % market share, and activity was heavily concentrated at Warsaw‑Chopin Airport, which handled about 140,000 tonnes (64 % of the national total). PLL LOT was the leading carrier with a 25 % share, and imports made up 57 % of the freight, mainly from the United States, China and India. Plans for a new “Port Poland” hub aim to boost all‑cargo capacity, though infrastructure, customs and tax reforms are needed.

Polish airline PLL LOT reported a record 11.7 million passengers in 2025, up 9.4 % year‑on‑year, but its net profit fell sharply to 346.2 million zł, down 48 % from the previous year. Revenue reached 10.2 bn zł and EBIT was 422 million zł. The carrier is modernising its fleet, adding Boeing 737‑8 MAX aircraft and planning Airbus A220s, while phasing out older Embraer types. It cited challenges such as the war in Ukraine, restricted airspace, high fuel and labor costs, and increased airport fees.
