Poland’s BNPL boom and ZEN.COM Click to Pay launch reshape e‑commerce payments

Buy‑Now‑Pay‑Later (BNPL) has become a core component of Polish online shopping, with 3.5 million users completing over 200 million transactions since 2022 and the market exceeding one billion zlotys. A BIK analysis identified four dynamic user profiles—financially‑aware planners, impulsive shoppers, flexible adapters, and active enthusiasts—and highlighted frequent migrations between these groups, indicating that BNPL now serves as a barometer of consumer financial behaviour.

Fintech firm ZEN.COM has added Mastercard’s Click to Pay service to its platform, enabling tokenised, password‑free online purchases for its 1.5 million individual customers and 10 thousand merchants across 33 markets. Mastercard’s research shows that 85 % of online shoppers have encountered Click to Pay, and 96 % of Poles aged 18‑65 paid online in the past year, with half already using token‑based solutions. The rollout promises faster, more secure checkout without repeatedly entering card details.

Both developments signal rapid evolution in Poland’s digital payments landscape, blending behavioural insights with new tokenisation technology to improve convenience and risk management for consumers and merchants alike.
