Poland's BNPL market tops 1 bn zł with 3.3 million users
Buy‑now‑pay‑later (BNPL) services in Poland have grown sharply. The BIK report shows the total BNPL portfolio reached 1.12 billion złoty by the end of June 2026, up from 5.5 billion złoty in the first four months of the same year, a 41.5% increase over the comparable period in 2025. At the end of April, 1.7 million customers held active BNPL contracts, and since 2022 more than 3.3 million consumers have completed over 176 million BNPL transactions.
The market is split between loan companies (47% of transactions), banks (32%) and mixed‑use customers (21%). BIK classifies users into four groups: financially‑conscious planners, impulsive deal‑seekers, flexible pragmatists, and active enthusiasts – the latter being the youngest, predominantly female, and most frequent users. The report notes a behavioural shift, with many originally cautious users becoming more impulsive after repeated BNPL use.
