Poland's Cosmetics Industry Surpasses EU Growth, Reaches €5.2bn in 2023

The Polish cosmetics sector contributed 5.5% of the added value of the European cosmetics market, generating €5.2 billion in 2023, which equals 6.4% of the EU market. Since 2014 the sector has grown by 75.3%, placing Poland second in the EU for growth rate and fifth in Europe for market size, while ranking ninth globally in export share at 3.8%.

Justyna Żerańska, director‑general of the Polish Cosmetic Industry Association (PZPK), highlighted Poland’s strong production, laboratory and technological base, noting that a weak zloty has boosted competitiveness. Global giants such as L’Oréal, Avon and P&G have opened factories in the country; L’Oréal’s Warsaw plant exports 94% of its output. The sector’s rapid expansion is seen as a major business opportunity and a driver of foreign investment.

According to the joint PZPK‑WiseEuropa report, the industry’s added value reached €2.04 billion, accounting for 5% of the EU market, with direct and indirect contributions of €661 million and €1.38 billion respectively in 2021.
