Poland's defence ministry schedules 2027 military qualification for 245,000 citizens

Poland's Ministry of National Defence (MON) has published a draft regulation outlining the 2027 military qualification. About 245,000 individuals will receive summons, mainly men born in 2008 who will reach adulthood this year, as well as men born 2003‑2007 lacking a service category and women born 2000‑2008 graduating from fields deemed important for the armed forces, such as medicine, psychology or technical specialties. The qualification period is set to run from early February to the end of May and will include medical and psychological examinations that assign one of four categories (A, B, D, E) indicating fitness for service. Participation is compulsory; failure to appear can result in fines or compulsory enlistment. After the exam, participants receive a private rank and, after 14 days, are transferred to the passive reserve if they do not opt for active service.
