Poland's Defense Modernization Faces Drone Production Bottlenecks and F‑35 Integration Hurdles

Polish defence firms argue that despite the Ministry of Defence's recent simplification of procedures for testing and fielding unmanned aircraft, the limited processing capacity hampers rapid drone deployment in the armed forces. Companies such as MSP InnTech, which has supplied tactical drones and ammunition to Ukrainian units, say the Ukrainian front serves as a critical testing ground, but scaling production, infrastructure and workforce remain major challenges.

At the same time, Poland has approved the purchase of additional F‑35A fighter jets, a move analysts say could reshape the country's strategic posture. Realising the full benefit of the aircraft will require robust logistics, protective measures against emerging threats, and deeper industrial cooperation, as outlined in a recent defence analysis.
