Poland's deposit system expands to eight authorized operators
The Polish deposit return system market is expanding, with the Ministry of Climate and Environment confirming a total of eight authorized operators. While six operators are currently active, two new entities, Ecokaucja Polska and Polski Operator Kaucyjny, have received permits to enter the market.
Ecokaucja Polska is scheduled to begin operations on January 1, 2027. Polski Operator Kaucyjny, led by CEO Paweł Mędrzycki, is set to launch on April 1, 2027. As of late July 2026, Polish consumers have already returned 3.2 billion pieces of packaging covered by the system.
The current list of authorized operators includes ZWROTKA S.A., POLKA S.A., OK OPERATOR KAUCYJNY S.A., RESELEKT S.A., KAUCJA.PL – KRAJOWY SYSTEM KAUCYJNY S.A., and POLSKI SYSTEM KAUCYJNY S.A. The market landscape has previously seen shifts, such as the withdrawal of Remondis from the operator role in April 2026.
