Poland's e‑commerce growth outpaces inflation, boosting consumer savings

Online sales in Poland rose 17.7% year‑on‑year, far exceeding the 5% increase in total retail sales and the 3% consumer‑price‑index inflation rate. The shift reflects a lasting change in purchasing habits, with about three‑quarters of internet users consistently shopping online.

Key drivers include easy price‑comparison tools, expanded logistics such as parcel lockers and fast delivery, and scalable marketplace models that lower fixed costs and enable aggressive promotions. For consumers this translates into more product choice, real‑price reductions through frequent discounts, coupons, cashback and loyalty programmes, and greater transparency of delivery and return fees.

Research shows that digitalisation of retail can curb inflation pressure, potentially trimming the CPI by up to 0.46 percentage points annually. Platforms like Ceneo, Skąpiec, Allegro and Amazon intensify price competition, helping households save on everyday purchases.
