Poland's ESG Conference Highlights Shift to Business‑Driven Sustainability

The Targi Idei ESG 2026 conference in Poland gathered nearly 500 representatives from business, public administration, academia and NGOs to discuss the evolution of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. Organisers emphasized that ESG is moving from a reporting obligation toward a core element of corporate strategy, competitiveness, security and resilience. The opening remarks were made by Irena Pichola, president of Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu, and Aneta Piątkowska, director of the Sustainable Economy Department at the Ministry of Development and Technology, who noted the changing perception of the "G" component. Guest speaker John Elkington warned that ESG is not dying but maturing, calling for concrete actions over rhetoric.

The fifth edition of the related "Czas na ESG!" event introduced a new business‑focused definition of ESG – Efficiency, Stability and Economy – and outlined a program addressing geopolitics, decarbonisation, AI‑driven data automation, brand transparency, and safe supply chains under EU regulations such as PPWR, CBAM and EUDR. Workshops and debates aimed to translate sustainability goals into measurable business value.
