Poland's GDDKiA selects Budimeks for 153.4 million zł Mierzyn bypass

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) awarded the contract to build the Mierzyn bypass on national road DK10 to contractor Budimeks. The 153.4 million zł (approximately €35 million) offer was chosen as the most economical after a prior selection was overturned by the National Appeals Chamber.

The 4.6‑km bypass, which runs partly through the city of Szczecin, is expected to be completed within 22 months of work commencement, excluding the winter pause from 16 December to 15 March. GDDKiA anticipates the road will be operational in the first half of 2029, easing traffic congestion on the current DK10 route that currently experiences daily jams.

The contract is slated for signing in the third quarter of this year, with the construction site to be handed over to the contractor within 30 days of signing. The project is part of the broader West Szczecin Bypass (ZOS) and will integrate with the upcoming S6 expressway, providing a key link to the Polish‑German border.
