Poland's KSeF e-Invoicing System Faces Integration Errors
From 1 April 2026 the Krajowy System e‑Faktur (KSeF) became mandatory for most Polish firms, and in its first month over 106 million invoices were filed. The rollout highlighted major integration challenges for e‑commerce businesses, which must link sales platforms, warehouses and accounting systems, correctly distinguish B2B from B2C sales, and manage invoice corrections and returns. The Ministry of Finance confirms that private‑person invoices remain outside KSeF and consumers cannot be forced to log into the government portal. Penalties for non‑compliance will start on 1 January 2027, reaching up to 100 % of the VAT amount or 18.7 % of the total invoice value for non‑tax documents.
By the half‑year mark on 1 August, KSeF had processed more than 340 million invoices from over 2 million taxpayers. Analyses show that nearly 20 % of corrective invoices contain structural or logical errors, and high‑volume firms face bottlenecks due to API throughput limits, file‑size caps and lax data validation, threatening financial liquidity. Industry experts, such as Michał Sosnowski of Exorigo‑Upos, call for increased API capacity, higher file limits and stronger validation, with a major system overhaul expected no earlier than 2027.
