Poland's KSeF e‑Invoice Platform Gains Early Praise but Needs Enhancements
Poland's mandatory National e‑Invoice System (KSeF) replaces paper and PDF invoices with structured XML documents that must be sent to a government platform for validation and a unique identifier. The change forces real‑time invoice monitoring and new software requirements, such as native API integration, automatic schema validation, and management of official acknowledgements.
Experts and entrepreneurs report that large firms have adapted smoothly, while many small and medium‑size enterprises faced slower adoption and occasional system overloads. A survey of 150 finance managers highlighted benefits like eliminating paper storage, greater automation and constant access to invoices, but also noted shortcomings such as lack of invoice previews, limited notifications, and occasional platform instability.
The Ministry of Finance is consulting on improvements, including batch correction tools, an English‑language interface, and a broader API 2.0 that will capture additional business events. Mandatory use began for large companies on 1 February 2026 and will extend to all other taxpayers on 1 April 2024, with small entities whose monthly sales are below 10 000 zł exempt until the end of 2026.
