Poland's Law and Justice party under growing political pressure

A recent United Surveys BY IBRiS poll showed the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party led by Jarosław Kaczyński at 23 % support, while the right‑wing Confederation and Grzegorz Braun’s party together reached 25.9 %. The combined opposition could outnumber PiS in a parliamentary seat allocation, threatening the coalition’s majority.

At the same time, PiS officials have reacted sharply to a prosecutor’s investigation of the Polish National Foundation (PFN). Former culture minister Piotr Gliński dismissed the probe as a politically motivated persecution, accusing opposition figures such as Donald Tusk of a campaign against the government. Coordination Minister Tomasz Siemoniak confirmed arrests of PFN board members over alleged misuse of foundation funds for the “Fair Courts” campaign, which prosecutors say served PiS’s political aims.
