Poland's local cultural festivals showcase jazz concert and Lachian tradition
In Swidnik, the Zaułek Poetów venue of the municipal library hosted a jazz concert on a Wednesday afternoon, featuring original compositions by Anna Michałowska and pianist‑composer Aga Derlak. The event, funded through the town’s citizen budget, included pre‑concert workshops for children and was praised by library director Piotr Jankowski for revitalising the space.
A week later, the public library in Pisarzowa presented the spoken‑word musical play “Czerwone Korale” as part of the “Pogodejmy po lachowsku” project. The performance highlighted the Lachian dialect, folk costumes and traditional songs, and was organized by the local Art Society “Pełna Skrzynia”. Local officials, including the mayor Jan Skrzekut and cultural coordinators, attended, while children and youths performed the piece and a concluding concert.
Both events emphasize community involvement in preserving and promoting regional culture through music, theatre and educational activities.
